Sitting at home browsing the Internet, I came across the SAcamera Friday Photo Challenge on their Facebook page. How the challenge works is that each Friday they host a challenge - the theme is announced on the day and the photos HAVE to be taken on the day. Spur of the moment, creative thinking!
This Friday's challenge was "Mechanical", and me being an enthusiastic mountainbiker I thought that this is the perfect challenge for me; as a bicycle is made up of lots of mechanical parts.
I decided to shoot some pics of the rear gears (the cassette and chain).
I took the photos in our garage, where there isn't a lot of light. So instead of using a flash I decided on using a slower shutter speed. I grabbed a box, put the camera on it and adjusted the angle of the camera by putting all sorts of things under it.
After a lot of readjusting and experimenting I got the shot that I was looking for:
Canon 600D
Canon 18-55mm lens
1/2 sec.
f/5.6
ISO 800
If you are keen to join in, just watch their FB page on Fridays for the Theme announcement!
